Blooket vs Kahoot: which classroom game should you use?
Pick Kahoot! when the whole class should answer the same question at the same moment, with you setting the pace. Pick Blooket when one question set should feel new across many arcade-style modes, in class or as homework, with up to 60 players free. For practice from your own slides, StudyPDF builds a self-paced quiz shared by link. It is not a live game.
Kahoot! is a live quiz show. Everyone sees the same question on the big screen, a timer runs, and points go to right and fast answers. You decide when to move on, so you can stop after a hard question and explain it. Blooket puts a question set inside mini-games such as Gold Quest, Tower Defense, Crypto Hack or Café. Students answer to earn gold, build defenses or serve customers, and they collect characters called Blooks.
The pace is the real difference. Kahoot! keeps the class together, which is good for checking understanding in the moment. In most Blooket modes students move at their own speed, so quick students do not wait and slow ones are not rushed. The trade-off is that you see less of the class in real time. Blooket can also send a set as homework, so the same game works after school.
Free plans as of October 2026: Blooket lets you host games with up to 60 players for free, and Plus raises that to 300 in most modes. Kahoot!'s free plan has quiz and true/false questions, and Kahoot! lists 10 to 40 players per game depending on the account type. Kahoot!+ starts at $3 a month billed yearly ($36) for up to 50 players. Blooket Plus comes as a yearly plan or monthly Plus Flex, so check the current price on Blooket.

Tool by tool
Blooket
Best for: Replaying one question set across many arcade-style game modes
Blooket turns a question set into arcade-style games. Students answer questions to earn gold, build defenses or run a café, and they collect characters called Blooks. You can host it live or assign it as homework.
Strengths
- Many game modes, so the same set feels new across a week of review
- Up to 60 players in a free game
- Students go at their own pace in most modes
- Homework mode lets students play the same set after school
Limits
- Luck and game mechanics matter, so a top score is not always top knowledge
- Less live control than Kahoot!: you cannot hold the class on one question
- Bigger games and some modes need Plus
Kahoot!
Best for: Whole-class quizzes where everyone answers together, at any age
Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform. You host a live quiz on the big screen, students join with a PIN, and points depend on right answers and speed. It also has a large library of ready-made kahoots and self-paced challenges you can assign.
Strengths
- You control the pace and can pause to explain after a hard question
- Starts in a minute: show the PIN, press start
- A large library of ready-made kahoots on common topics
- Basic reports after each game show which questions most players missed
Limits
- Speed earns points, so quick guessers can beat careful thinkers
- The free plan has only quiz and true/false questions and a small player cap
- Every round plays the same way, so a repeated set gets old sooner
StudyPDF
That's usBest for: Self-paced quizzes from your own slides that students take at home
StudyPDF is not a live game. You upload your slides, worksheets or notes, it drafts quizzes, flashcards and practice exams from them, and you check and edit every question. Then you share the course with one link.
Strengths
- Questions come from your own material and cite the page
- One link per course: 3, 10 or 30 people can join on Free, Pro or Ultra and save their progress
- Each student sees which concepts they still miss
Limits
- No live game, PIN, timer, leaderboard or Blooks
- Places per shared course depend on the plan, so a full class needs a paid plan
Who should pick which
- Blooket: Pick Blooket to review the same set several times without boredom, for game-style homework, or for groups bigger than Kahoot!'s free cap.
- Kahoot!: Pick Kahoot! for a quick check of understanding with the whole class together, when you want to stop and explain after a question.
- StudyPDF: Pick StudyPDF for practice built from your own slides, taken at home at each student's pace, with a source for every question and progress per concept.
