Knowt vs Quizlet: which one should you use?
Pick Knowt if you want a free place for flashcards, notes and practice tests, or you want to import your old Quizlet sets. Pick Quizlet if you want its huge library of sets and familiar study modes, and a capped free plan is fine. If your material is your own lecture files, StudyPDF builds the cards from them and cites the page.
Knowt and Quizlet start from the same idea: flashcards plus practice tests. Knowt grew up as a free alternative. Its Basic plan is free, its site says flashcards and the learn mode are not locked behind a paywall, and it can import your existing Quizlet sets in one click.
Quizlet has the bigger name and a very large library of sets made by other students, with study modes such as Learn, Test and Match. On its free plan some tools are capped, and Plus is a subscription. Both now use AI to turn notes or files into study material.
Paid prices differ a lot, and both sites change them, so compare the plans on each site before you subscribe. As of October 2026, Knowt Ultra is $24.99 a month or $149.99 billed yearly.
