Nursing flashcards from your own lectures
StudyPDF reads your patho slides, drug lists and med-surg notes and drafts the flashcards for you to review.
- Cards from your own lectures and drug lists
- Patho, pharm, fundamentals and med-surg
- Slide diagrams can sit on the card
Furosemide: what class is it and why is it given in heart failure?
A loop diuretic. It pulls off extra fluid, which eases breathing and swelling.

Nursing flashcards that match your program
The fastest way to get nursing flashcards that fit your exams is to make them from your own lectures. A bought pack follows a general curriculum. Your instructor tests what is on the slides, in the order the unit was taught, with the drugs and lab values on their list.
StudyPDF reads your slides, drug lists and notes and drafts the deck. You read it against the source, fix what is off and then study. It works the same for pathophysiology, pharmacology, fundamentals and med-surg: a disease becomes cause, signs and what the nurse watches for, and a drug class becomes mechanism, side effects and nursing considerations. The learning is still yours. The typing is not.
A walkthrough: one patho lecture and one drug list
Say you upload a heart failure lecture and the diuretics page of your drug list, open New material, pick Flashcards and ask for one concept per card. A few of the cards you can get look like this. The exact cards and wording follow your slides.

Furosemide: what class is it and why is it given in heart failure?
A loop diuretic. It pulls off extra fluid, which eases breathing and swelling.
Which lab value does the nurse watch most closely with a loop diuretic?
Potassium. Low potassium is the common problem, so weakness and an irregular rhythm are warning signs.
Left-sided heart failure: why crackles and shortness of breath?
The left ventricle cannot push blood forward, so pressure backs up into the lungs and fluid collects there.
Every card carries a concept tag and a citation to the slide it came from. A card that looks wrong is one click from its source, and you can edit or delete it before you study.
Diagrams on the cards, a print sheet and Anki
Nursing is full of figures: the heart with its chambers, the nephron, a pressure injury staging chart. Figures from your slides can be cropped out and placed on the front or the back of a card. If a figure has labels, StudyPDF can turn it into a hide-the-label deck, one card per diagram, so you name each part from memory.
For study time away from a screen, a deck exports as a PDF in a fold-over layout: fold the sheet and the answer sits behind the question. The PDF is free on every plan, and on Free it carries a small StudyPDF footer. Anki export is on Pro and up. The file is a native .apkg, and diagram decks use Anki's own Image Occlusion note type, so they schedule themselves on your phone.
Drill the weak concepts before ATI, HESI or NCLEX
Flashcards train recall, and nursing exams ask you to apply facts to a patient. So the cards that matter most are the ones you keep missing. Every rating you give updates your mastery per concept, weakest first. Ask Bo what you should focus on and the answer is a button: the New material form opens with your weakest concepts already picked, ready for a smaller, sharper deck.
For ATI, HESI or NCLEX prep, upload the topic outline or content list your program or review course gives you and build from that. Add practice questions next to the cards, since application questions are a different skill. No tool can promise a score. This one helps you find the gaps and close them.
What it does not do
The cards are only as good as the material you upload. If a slide is wrong or out of date, the card will be too, so check doses, lab ranges and clinical facts against your textbook or drug guide before you rely on them. A drafted deck is a first draft. Read it, fix what is off and delete what your instructor will not test.
Premade packs offer things this does not copy: illustrations, mnemonic art and cards written by nurse educators with exam experience. If your program follows a standard curriculum and you want that polish, a pack can be a fair buy. This is for the other case, where your exam is built from your instructor's slides and drug list, or where you want to try a deck before you spend anything. Clean slides give better cards than messy photos of notes, although both work. Nothing here is medical advice.
How to make nursing flashcards from your lectures
Four steps from a lecture to a deck you can drill.
- 1
Upload one unit
Add the lecture slides, the drug list, a handout, or photos of your notes. Start small: one patho lecture or one drug class.
- 2
Pick Flashcards and a scope
Open New material, choose Flashcards, and set the scope to one lecture, one topic or the whole course. In the free-text line, say what you want on the back, such as cause, signs, what the nurse monitors.
- 3
Read the deck against your slides
Edit what is off and delete what your instructor will not test before you study.
- 4
Drill, then print or export
Rate each card Again, Hard, Good or Easy, and your ratings feed your weak concepts. Print the deck as a fold-over sheet, or export it to Anki on Pro.
What you get
A deck that matches your course, not a pack written for everyone.
- Cards on the drugs, labs and diseases your instructor actually covered
- One concept per card, so each one is answered in seconds
- Slide figures on the cards and hide-the-label cards for labeled diagrams
- Citations, so any card can be checked against the source slide

Questions and answers
Are there free nursing flashcards I can make myself?
Yes. Uploading a lecture and making a deck is free to start, with about 4 materials a week on Free. That is enough for one unit at a time. Upgrade when you need more during heavy exam weeks.
Can I print nursing flashcards?
Yes. Any deck exports as a PDF in a fold-over layout, and the PDF is free on every plan. Free adds a small StudyPDF footer. Word and Anki exports are on Pro and up.
How do I make pathophysiology flashcards?
Keep one disease or process per card and use the same back every time: cause, signs and symptoms, what the nurse monitors, key interventions. Upload the lecture, pick Flashcards and type that layout into the free-text line. StudyPDF drafts the cards from your slides and cites each one.
3 more questions
What are the best flashcards for nursing students?
It depends on the exam. A premade pack is written once for a general curriculum and suits you if your program follows it. A deck made from your own lectures suits you when your instructor's slides and drug list decide the exam. Many students use both and add practice questions.
Can I use these for NCLEX, ATI or HESI?
Flashcards drill recall, and those exams test application, so pair the cards with practice questions. Upload the topic outline your program or review course gives you and build the deck from it. StudyPDF does not promise scores or pass rates.
Can I export my nursing flashcards to Anki?
Yes, on Pro and up. The deck exports as a native Anki .apkg file, and diagram decks use Anki's native Image Occlusion note type. Import it on your computer and sync to your phone.
