How much does the MCAT cost?
The MCAT costs $360 for 2027 test dates ($355 for 2026 dates), or $145 with approval from the AAMC Fee Assistance Program. Testing outside the US, Canada and US territories adds a $130 international fee. Moving your test date costs $55 to $210, depending on how close the test is, and no changes are allowed in the last 10 days.
In more detail
The AAMC prices a change by how many days are left before your exam. 60 or more days out, moving the date costs $55 and a cancellation refunds $180 of the $360. Between 30 and 59 days out, a change costs $110 and the refund is still $180. Between 10 and 29 days out, a change costs $210 and canceling refunds nothing. Inside 10 days you cannot change anything, and the last day to schedule is 10 days before the exam.
The Fee Assistance Program (FAP) cuts the registration fee to $145 and lowers the change fees to $25, $45 and $85 across the same three windows, with refunds of $75 for a cancellation made 30 or more days out. Eligibility depends on your household income, and you need final approval before you pick a test date and location, so apply first.
The $130 international fee for testing outside the US, Canada and US territories is added on top of the registration fee and is not refunded if you cancel. Fees change from year to year, so check the AAMC's fee page the week you register.

Step by step
- 1
Check whether you qualify for the Fee Assistance Program and get your approval before you choose a test date.
- 2
Pick a date you can keep, based on a study schedule counted back from the test day.
- 3
Mark the 60-day and 30-day points on your calendar, because a change gets more expensive after each one.
- 4
If you test outside the US, Canada or US territories, add the $130 international fee to your budget.
How StudyPDF helps
Upload your MCAT review books, class notes and photos of practice pages and StudyPDF builds flashcards and timed practice sets from them, each answer linked to the page it came from. Set your test date in the course's Plan tab and the plan counts back from it, with weak concepts getting the earlier and repeated sessions, so you are less tempted to pay for a date change.

More questions
Is the MCAT fee refundable?
Partly. If you cancel 30 or more days before the exam, the AAMC refunds $180 of the standard $360 ($75 on the Fee Assistance Program rate). Cancel 10 to 29 days out and you get nothing back, and the international fee is never refunded.
How much is the MCAT with the Fee Assistance Program?
Registration is $145 instead of $360, and rescheduling costs $25, $45 or $85 depending on how close the test is. You must be approved before you select your test date and location.
