Notes to flashcards

Turn your notes into flashcards

Upload the notes you already took, typed or handwritten, and StudyPDF turns them into an active-recall deck. Every card cites the note page it came from, so you can always check it against your own words. Rate each card and the deck learns what you still get wrong.

  • Reads typed and handwritten notes
  • Every card cites its note page
  • Rate cards Again, Hard, Good, or Easy
  • Exports to Anki, PDF, and Word
  • Free to start, no credit card

Your notes already did the hard part

Good notes are half the work of studying. You already picked out what mattered in class and wrote it in your own words. The problem is that rereading those notes mostly builds recognition, not recall. You nod along because it looks familiar, then blank in the exam. Flashcards fix that, but typing out a deck by hand takes hours you do not have. StudyPDF reads the notes you already took and turns them into cards, so the effort you spent writing them keeps paying off.

How to turn notes into flashcards

Four steps from the notes on your laptop or in your notebook to a deck you can drill.

01

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, a Word export, a Notion or Google Docs export, or photos of your handwritten pages.

02

It reads them

StudyPDF reads your notes, including messy handwriting and scans, and finds the facts worth testing.

03

Review the deck

Flip through the cards and rate each one Again, Hard, Good, or Easy. Every card links back to its note page.

04

Export or keep drilling

Send the deck to Anki for spaced review, export a PDF or Word file, or keep studying in StudyPDF.

Typed notes: PDF, Word, Notion, Google Docs

If your notes live in Notion, Google Docs, Word, or plain PDFs, export them and upload the file. StudyPDF reads the structure, finds the definitions, facts, and steps worth testing, and writes a question and answer for each one. Every card cites the exact page of your notes it came from. If a card looks off, you click through and check it against what you wrote. Nothing is invented from outside your material.

Handwritten notes work too

Plenty of people learn better writing by hand, and then the notebook just sits there before the exam. Take photos of the pages or scan them and upload. StudyPDF reads handwriting, even the messy kind, and builds cards from it the same way. Once the deck exists, rate every card Again, Hard, Good, or Easy. StudyPDF tracks your mastery per concept, so your next quiz or practice exam can target exactly the parts of your notes you keep missing.

What you get

A deck built from your own notes, in your course's wording, not a generic set off the internet.

  • Cards in the wording your class actually uses
  • A citation on every card, back to your note page
  • Handwritten pages and scans work too
  • Mastery tracking shows which concepts are weak
  • Anki export for spaced review on your phone
  • PDF and Word export for printing or sharing

Start with one page of notes

Upload a single page and see what the cards look like. If they are good, feed it the rest of the term. The same upload also gives you a quiz, a study guide, and a practice exam, all built from your own notes. It is free to start, no credit card, and the free tier covers most of a term.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Upload your notes to StudyPDF as a PDF, a Word file, a Notion or Google Docs export, or photos of handwritten pages. It reads them, builds a question-and-answer deck, and cites the note page each card came from. You can then rate cards, track mastery, and export to Anki.

Yes. Photograph or scan your notebook pages and upload them. StudyPDF reads handwriting, including messy or slanted writing, and builds cards from it just like from typed notes.

Yes. The deck exports as a native Anki .apkg file, so it opens in Anki with spaced repetition ready to go. You can also export the cards as PDF or Word.

Every card cites the exact page of your notes it was built from. If an answer looks wrong, click the citation and compare it with what you wrote. The cards come from your material, not from the open internet.

Writing cards by hand does force you to process the material, but you already did that processing when you took the notes. The learning that matters most happens during recall, when you drill the cards. StudyPDF skips the typing and gets you to the drilling faster.

It is free to start, and the free tier covers most of a term. You only upgrade if you need a bigger weekly pool of credits for heavy exam-season use.

Your course, not the internet.
