Within hours of a cleaning, proteins from saliva coat the tooth and form a thin film, and the first bacteria to arrive attach to that film rather than to the enamel itself. Later species then attach to the earlier ones. Because the secreted layer slows the movement of antimicrobial agents, and because cells inside a biofilm behave differently from free floating ones, a mature biofilm is much harder to kill than the same species grown loose in liquid. Which statements are supported by the passage?

11. Read the passage, then answer the question. Saliva does more than moisten food. It carries bicarbonate and phosphate, which neutralize acid, and it washes fermentable sugar away from the tooth surface. After a sugary drink, plaque bacteria produce acid within minutes and the pH near the enamel drops. Saliva then pulls that pH back up over the following twenty to sixty minutes. That recovery window is why dentists pay more attention to how often a person sips a sweet drink than to how large the drink is. Ten sips spread across an afternoon hold the surface at a low pH far longer than the same volume swallowed at once. The passage suggests that the greatest risk to enamel comes from:

O que o DAT realmente cobra de você
O Dental Admission Test é uma prova de computador da American Dental Association, feita em centro de teste. Ela tem quatro partes. O Survey of the Natural Sciences dá 100 questões em 90 minutos, divididas em 40 de biologia, 30 de química geral e 30 de química orgânica. O Perceptual Ability Test dá 90 questões em 60 minutos. O Reading Comprehension dá 50 questões em 60 minutos. O Quantitative Reasoning dá 40 questões em 45 minutos. Com o intervalo opcional e a pesquisa opcional pós-prova, o agendamento dura pouco mais de cinco horas.
As notas são reportadas como notas de escala de 1 a 30, e a ADA descreve 19 como um desempenho mais ou menos médio no país. Você recebe uma nota separada para biologia, química geral, química orgânica, compreensão de leitura, raciocínio quantitativo e o Perceptual Ability Test. A Academic Average é a média arredondada das cinco notas acadêmicas, e a nota perceptiva é deixada de fora dela de propósito, então o PAT é lido sozinho. A mistura aqui é de seis questões de ciências naturais, duas de raciocínio perceptivo, três textos de leitura e quatro itens quantitativos.
As questões perceptivas precisam de um aviso. O Perceptual Ability Test real é totalmente visual: buracos de fechadura e aberturas, reconhecimento de vistas superior, frontal e lateral, ordenação de ângulos, perfuração de papel, contagem de cubos e dobradura de padrões. Uma página de texto não consegue desenhar isso, e fingir uma imagem em palavras ensinaria os hábitos errados. Então os dois itens perceptivos aqui testam as regras e o raciocínio por trás de duas dessas tarefas. Treine a seção em si com diagramas de verdade, porque a velocidade no PAT vem de um reconhecimento de padrões que só se constrói olhando.
