Dit is een gratis oefentoets van 15 vragen in de stijl van het TEAS 7-onderdeel English and Language Usage. Hij gaat over grammatica en zinsbouw, interpunctie, spelling en woordenschat van het Engels, met meerkeuzevragen, selecteer alles wat van toepassing is en invulvragen door elkaar. Formal writing avoids slang, contractions of casual speech and chat abbreviations. Choice B states the situation plainly and politely, which fits the audience.

Wat het TEAS 7 English-onderdeel toetst
Het onderdeel English and Language Usage van de ATI TEAS 7 is het kortste van de vier: 37 vragen in 37 minuten, precies een minuut per vraag. 33 vragen tellen mee voor je score en 4 zijn ongescoorde testvragen die je niet kunt herkennen, dus behandel ze allemaal hetzelfde.
De vragen die meetellen dekken drie inhoudsgebieden. Conventies van standaard Engels is 12 vragen waard: spelling, interpunctie en zinsbouw. Taalkennis is 11 vragen waard: grammatica in context, helderheid, en taal kiezen die past bij een formele of informele situatie. Woordenschat is 10 vragen waard: woordbetekenissen afleiden uit de context en uit woorddelen zoals voorvoegsels, stammen en achtervoegsels.
Omdat de tijd krap is, beloont dit onderdeel patroonherkenning. De meeste vragen toetsen een kleine set terugkerende regels van het Engels: congruentie tussen onderwerp en werkwoord, de vorm van voornaamwoorden, woorden die vaak door elkaar worden gehaald, apostrofs en de bouw van bijzinnen.
Hoe je deze oefentoets gebruikt
De 15 vragen hieronder raken dezelfde set regels waar het echte onderdeel op leunt. Doe ze op tempo, ongeveer een minuut per vraag, en lees daarna elke uitleg. Elke uitleg noemt de regel die getoetst wordt, dus een fout antwoord vertelt je precies wat je moet herhalen.
Houd een eigen foutenlijst bij. Had je de vraag over lie tegenover lay fout, dan gaat die op de lijst met de regel erbij. Een kort lijstje met je eigen terugkerende fouten doornemen is veel efficiënter dan een heel grammaticahoofdstuk overlezen.
